Arcachon Bay (Bassin d’Arcachon)

A trip to the Bay is a must. Our favorite spots:

  • Le Village de l’Herbe: A very charming, traditional oyster-farming village. The Hôtel de la Plage has just reopened after renovations while keeping its original spirit.
  • Oyster Tasting: You can enjoy fresh oysters at Chez Guillaume.

Note: These local "cabanes" serve fresh seafood and cold plates only (no hot meals), but the view is fantastic and highly recommended.

  • Cap Ferret: Perfect for a day of cycling. The best way to get there is to drive to Arcachon and take the shuttle boat (runs every 30 mins in season) across the water.
  • Plage Pereire: A beautiful beach and a very nice restaurant (also called Plage Pereire). Booking is mandatory as early as possible!
  • Dune du Pilat: The highest sand dune in Europe.
  • The perfect combo: Visit the Dune in the morning, have lunch at Plage Pereire, and enjoy the beach in the afternoon.
  • ⚠️ Traffic: The road between Bordeaux and the Bay is very busy in the morning and evening during summer. Please plan accordingly.

🍷 Saint-Émilion

A historic village surrounded by famous vineyards like Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, Pomerol, and Fronsac. It is very touristy but definitely worth the visit.

  • Where to eat: We always go to L’Envers du Décor and are never disappointed.
